Hi!

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, experiences in life, and express my unique style here. This isn’t a platform where I gloat about the great things I’m blessed to do. I tell the ugly truths many people are afraid to reveal about themselves with a hope of making life a little easier for someone else. I know all the writing rules but it’s my page so sometimes I follow them and sometimes I don’t. I hope you enjoy a little about a lot.

How You Can Afford To Travel Today

How You Can Afford To Travel Today

Affordable Travel Options

*This article was written pre-covid so you will see some references to travel abroad.

The possibility to travel abroad is so much easier than it was when I started just a few years ago. The days of saving up for months to take a trip are basically over. It’s now possible to pick any destination in the world, take a trip there and pay for it all when you get back. It’s literally that simple to start your wanderlust dreams. So what am I talking about?

A company I’ve tried called Affirm. It can be your ticket to doing exactly what you see me do and more. The name may sound familiar, you’ve probably seen it at checkout for some of your favorite online retail stores but guess what? You can use it for travel also! I am in no way affiliated with, sponsored by or being paid to tell you this (although I wish I was) I just want to give you some free game (literally, lol) on how you can travel when you are on a budget.

Now, I mean a responsible budget. If you are barely getting by I would not suggest adding another bill to your monthly expenses. Definitely pay some things off first. Going into debt to stunt is not cute. Live your life to the fullest, definitely, but part of doing that means having your financial swag together also. Stunt within your means!

Now for my people that don’t make payments late and do your thang every month with paying your bills, this is for you!! So how does it work? Affirm will do a credit check and all you need is a 550 credit score. Thankfully you have a much better score than that right? Because we are responsible adults and we pay our bills on time!!!

If you don’t have a 550 let me just bluntly say you are doing something terribly wrong. I need you to go have a talk with Jesus about life then come back to this ok?! Now on to my real ones, the credit check is a soft check so it won’t affect your score. They just need to access your risk as a borrower. Once you’re approved the fun begins!

I tried affirm just to give an honest review of it when it comes to travel because I want to see us win. I saw an opportunity for others to experience greatness and wanted to make sure it was legit before recommending it. I personally think it’s great. I paid it off the same month after seeing how the payments work but you have different options that go up to 12 months to pay for your vacation. You won’t see it at checkout for all airlines so you have to actually go on their website to create an account and apply.

They will give you a limit on how much you can spend then you get a digital credit card to use just like a real card at the retailer you agreed in your application to use it at. You put the card info in and boom, they pay for your trip. I was so excited to see this for all the people that ask me how they can afford travel, this is it!

You can literally go to Africa next month, come back and have a whole twelve months to pay for it. The interest is very fair for what you get in return, they don’t charge late fees but we don’t care because again, we pay our bills on time, and the sooner you pay it off the less interest you pay.

It does not get any easier than that to travel folks. I mean seriously, there is absolutely no excuse to not be able to go on those trips with your friends that 20 people say they’ll go on and only two end up going. So what are you waiting for? Let’s see each other on the other side of the world sometime soon okay!

Here’s the link to get started, www.affirm.com

To get ahead of anyone who will find something wrong with my article, let me say a couple things. I am by no means promoting going into debt for travel nor am I telling people to forego saving money. You should always save money for your future, who wants to work forever? Definitely not me, yuck! So part of having financial savviness includes having a savings you contribute to before you start buying things you just want. Period.

Also, affirm is not the only option to pay for travel, there are others and if you know about them from personal experience, please share in the comments, we’d love to learn more. Affirm is just the only company I’ve personally used to recommend to others. So, I hope that clears up any confusion that may have been created by how I said, what I said, but if not, please respectfully let me know below!
